#globalhub May: Storytelling

Storytelling is a powerful way to connect to others and to communicate meaning.

Stories represent your nation
Most of us like to share stories with our friends and family back home when we are traveling or living abroad.

We share our photographs, blog about our lives, write books and call home to share what we've been doing and who we met.

We hear stories about the history of the country we are in, marvel at tall tales and legends spun by entertaining locals, and are exposed to the national conversation about the identity of the people and their way of life.

Without knowing how we often form a picture of a new culture from the stories that we hear.

This Month's #globalhub Questions (4pm EST @globalhub1)

Q1: What is your favorite way to tell a story (talk to people, write, and take a photo)?

Q2: Do you tell stories about your home country when you are abroad?

Q3: How do other countries see your country? Do you hear a narrative about foreigners?

Q4: Share a story about your host country that helped you understand the culture.

Q5: Who are the best orators and storytellers in your home and host country? Politician, writers, religious leaders, journalists…

Q6: What (or who) is your favorite national monster?
